Stirling, the gateway to the Highlands

Stirling has watched over the crossing of the Forth for centuries, and its castle and the Wallace Monument still dominate the skyline above the town in the Stirling council area. The old town climbs the crag below the castle walls, while the modern town spreads out along the river and towards the motorway that carries traffic north.

For travellers it is a popular overnight stop between Edinburgh and the Highlands, and a day-trip destination in its own right for the castle, the monument and Bannockburn. The university also keeps a steady flow of students and visiting academics moving through the town.

    Getting to and from Stirling

The stations and airports linked from this page are the main arrival points, and the surrounding towns — the places this page lists nearby — are short runs that suit a fixed-price car better than a timetable.

If you are heading on to the Highlands, the same booking covers the whole journey, with any stops priced in before you pay. Early-morning departures for the airport are quoted the same way as midday trips.

A car for every party size

Choose by bags as much as by people: four passengers and two large cases suit a saloon, and the Estate Car or Standard MPV take three or four cases. Six travel in the Seven-Seater MPV, seven in the Premium MPV, and up to eight in the Eight-Seater Van. If your group is bigger than that, we send more than one car.

    Booking terms

Book with your pickup address, destination and time, and the fare is locked in at that moment. Cards are taken through Stripe at the end of booking — Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Nothing about your card is kept on cabslink.com. There is no cancellation charge more than 12 hours ahead of pickup. Between 3 and 12 hours before, half the fare is due, and inside 3 hours the full fare is due.
